Courtney and Steve Wedding

Courtney and Steve’s Clear Mountain lodge Wedding

Courtney and Steve really enjoy being up in the mountains, and fell for the view from Mercure Clear Mountain Lodge Spa and Vineyard.

Why did they picked Clear Mountain lodge for their wedding

They decided from the start that they wanted to have our ceremony, reception, and photos all at the one venue. Courtney and Steve wanted guests to be able to relax and enjoy the time in between the ceremony and reception. They had lawn games, canapés and drinks for their family and friends while the couple were off having the bridal party photos. The Event Coordinators James and Jessica went above and beyond to ensure they had a beautiful day.

How did Courtney and Steve meet,

We were put together for a work event. It was kind of crazy and we didn’t know what we were getting in to, but in short, Steve had to play the part of Prince William and I had to play the part of Kate Middleton, around the time they were getting married. Jokes, then friendship, then dating later ensued

The proposal,

I was just overwhelmingly happy! Holidaying in Japan, and it was our last night there when he told me he’d planned a surprise. We walked down these streets that were lined with trees illuminated by fairy lights to arrive at the secret destination – Tokyo Skytree. We spent some time on the viewing deck, 450 metres up, where you can see the lights of Tokyo city stretching all the way out to the horizon in all directions.

He then took me to the restaurant, where we were served an exquisite dinner, which culminated in a very special dessert. When the plate was put down in front of me, written in strawberry sauce was “Veux-tu m’epouser?” Steve rose and walked around the table, got down on one knee, and said some very beautiful things, not least of which was “will you marry me?” I very happily agreed! I remember later, as we were holding hands across the table and just taking it all in, looking at Steve and saying (through happy tears) “you’re going to be my husband, and I’m going to be your wifey.”

Choosing the dress,

The dress was from Destination Bridal. I tried on all kinds of dresses, but this one was just right. It was important to me that the dress I chose wasn’t going to be restrictive on the day. This came in handy for dancing… and for when Adam casually announced we had to climb over a fence to get to the next photo spot.

Unique and funny moments at their wedding at Clear Mountain Lodge

How to choose! I loved having my Nana in the role of “Flower Granny”. It was the people that really made the day. The speeches were unbelievably funny and heartfelt. There were also video messages from friends overseas and a personal video message from Steve’s buddies Hamish and Andy, which was a great surprise that he had kept under his hat.

Advice for future couples,

Remember to put more time and effort in to planning for your marriage, than planning for your wedding. It’s the love and commitment between you that really matters.

final note,

We have so much to be grateful for. It was a perfect day.
