I can’t express enough how awesome of a day I had with Caronwen and Ben and their beautiful families at Albert River Wines. Caronwen wanted to party away under the stars at Albert River Wines. And she got that and it almost felt like the night finished early, (it didn’t). It was just an awesome night with even the most reserved of people kicking their shoes off and hitting the dance floor. (I’m pretty sure theres some footage of me on the dance floor).

Ben and I met years and years ago, briefly through friends. We used to see each other occasionally at bbqs but never really spoke to each other much. And didn’t really know each other well. This is slightly embarrassing but about four years ago I started playing a game called Song Pop. I challenged Ben through Face Book to games which lead to us chatting. Then to dating and then to love and now marriage. The thing I noticed first about him was his laugh. It makes me really happy to hear. It and its something that I adore about him, I even mentioned it in our vows.

Ben proposed to me last year on my birthday and it was a complete surprise. We went away for the weekend for my birthday and we were going out for dinner that night. Ben said he had one more present for me and I had to follow rose petals to the next room. Where they lead to a small jewelry box with my engagement ring in it. When I turned around he was on one knee. It was a really special moment to experience. Afterwards when we went out for dinner he had secretly arranged all of my friends to be there. So they got to be there to share our happy news.

Why did you pick Albert River Wines for your wedding?

We chose Albert River Wines as our venue as we met Chris (Manager) at the wedding expo and she was lovely. Ben and myself went out to see the place and it just had the most serene relaxed feel to it. We liked all of the animals that were around from the working dog that came to greet us and the cat the was hanging out in the office. We had the ceremony in the beautiful old chapel at Albert River Winery. It was really important to us that the day flowed well and that the ceremony and reception were at the same place. We wanted our friends and family to have the best time possible and to be relaxed and enjoy the day. Our reception was on the vineyard deck at Albert River Winery. We chose it as we wanted to have the reception outdoors under the stars.

Was there any unique or funny moments from your day at Albert River Wines

At the reception at one stage Nathan one of the groomsmen had Adam’s camera and was snapping away at the festivities while Adam was on the dance floor 

A few Words About the Dress

When I was looking for a wedding dress I went into a shop. Where there was a very enthusiastic lady who was helping me try on dresses. Unfortunately the dresses were awful on me and I didn’t have the heart to tell the consultant. She insisted on taking photos of me in one particularly terrible dress on my phone.

The next week I went to Belladonna Bridal and found my actual dress and purchased it.  I chose the dress as it was the one that felt most like me and I knew Ben would love it too. I didn’t know but Ben had seen the photo of me in the awful dress in my phone. He spent months trying to figure out how he was going to pretend to like the dress. On our wedding day so I wouldn’t feel insulted! He was pretty relieved to see me in the real dress and his groomsmen were confused as to why he was so worried.

Any Advice For Coupes Getting Married

When planning a wedding remember that your partner may have a different style of organising and planning to you but it will all work out. 

We felt like we hit the jackpot with all of the vendors we chose to help us on the day as every single one was amazing. We really had the best time of our lives and as soon as the reception was over we wanted to do the whole day over again.
