Hailey and Shaun’s wedding at The Joinery west End

We met online in 2010 and found out very quickly that we were very smitten with one another. Hailey: Apart from being super cute, I recognised him somehow. Later down the track we worked out that Shaun was friends with a family friend. We had met many years before. Shaun: Hailey had a very lovely smile and was very caring and interested in me.

The Proposal

Hailey arrived home after a full day of shopping and was very exhausted. She flopped on the lounge where Shaun had been sitting. He said how much he loved Hailey and that he had picked up something nice for her whilst she had been out. It was just a quiet Saturday evening at home but was absolutely perfect. We kept it a secret to the world for the next day and then surprised our family at a BBQ. It was very special

The Wedding ceremony at La Trobe Chapel Paddington

We were after something special and when we went inside the La Trobe Chapel at Paddington. We found the perfect place for us. It was gorgeous! Just the right size but I think the thing that sealed the deal was that it had air conditioning!!

Wedding Reception at The Joinery West End

As for the reception venue, we could not be happier with The Joinery at West End. It is modern and totally suits our taste. Which was very important for us to be able to make it our own by dressing it up (or down) however we liked. We worked with Brandition who did an amazing job. The furniture and foliage displays, InstaKombi for the photo booth and G and M provided our entertainment for the evening.

We both really love minimalistic but elegant styling. So went for a green and white theme, which we were beyond happy with. We even made our own succulent table settings together a few weeks before. Which put the finishing touches on our reception. As for the feel of the reception at The Joinery. All we wanted was for ourselves and our guests to have fun night and we definitely achieved that!

The lovely Tina at Grace Loves Lace at Burleigh looked after Hailey very well. Hailey initially chose 4 dresses to try on and Tina asked if she would like to try on the style called Lottie. She was absolutely in love with Lottie. But what made it so special was that her uncle had only just passed away and his nickname was Lottie. So having him with her on her wedding day was the most amazing touch.

On The Day

It rained…. but that did not dampen our spirits one bit! As the ceremony ended we were whisked away by a friend who spoilt us with champagne and we headed over to Kangaroo Point. Which was amazing because the timing was absolutely perfect and we were able to get our favourite shots in between showers.

Advice For Future Couples

Just do it the way you both want and find out what is important to you both. But remember to have fun but make sure you take the opportunity to have some alone time to step back and look around the room at your guests to appreciate them all being there for you both.

We have received a lot of messages from our family and friends after our big day and many of them said it was one of the most fun weddings that they have ever been too, which is exactly what we wanted! Everyone is still talking about how amazing the food was! I can only put it down to the events experts who helped us bring our day together. A special mention to our photographer Adam, our MC Brian from G & M, Maria from the Joinery, who exceeded all of our expectations, which truly made it the best day of our lives.
