InterContinental Sanctuary Cove Wedding Stephenie and Jason
Our ceremony was held at the chapel at Sanctuary Cove, which is truly breathtaking. The chapel features stunning floor-to-ceiling glass, allowing natural light to pour in and creating the most incredible backdrop, even wild kangaroos could be seen outside, which made it feel uniquely Australian. The elegant white interiors paired beautifully with our soft silk floral arrangements, creating a timeless and romantic atmosphere that felt both peaceful and unforgettable.
Our reception was held at The Fireplace Restaurant at the InterContinental Sanctuary Cove Resort. It has a timeless Queenslander charm, with stone flooring and a warm, inviting feel. The space overlooks a romantic fountain terrace that comes alive in the evening with soft lighting, breezes through the trees, and a relaxed, intimate ambience, perfect for a smaller wedding.
We loved how convenient everything was, with the chapel, reception, and accommodation all in one location. The resort itself is stunning, with a beautiful beach-style pool, live music, cabanas, and multiple lounging areas, ideal for guests to relax and enjoy the full experience. Having both grown up on the Gold Coast, it felt really special to celebrate somewhere that reflected our roots and that classic Queensland lifestyle.
Theme to our Wedding at The Intercontinental Sanctuary Cove
Our theme was “smart, elegant soft romance.” We chose a palette of soft pinks and whites to create a romantic feel, while keeping everything crisp and refined.
We also incorporated our aviation love story throughout the day — from the invitations to wedding reminders and even our grand entrance adding a personal and meaningful touch while still maintaining that elegant, romantic aesthetic.
Unique and Favourite Moments From Our Wedding
There were so many special moments. Our first look on the fountain terrace is something we’ll never forget, the anticipation leading up to it and seeing each other for the first time was incredibly emotional and heartfelt.
Our vows at the altar were another standout moment. They were deeply personal, emotional, and also filled with lighthearted, funny moments that really reflected us as a couple.
A fun memory was trying to cut what felt like the densest chocolate cake ever it looked beautiful and tasted amazing, but definitely gave us a challenge!
We also loved having a personalised album of sneak peek photos displayed on our sweetheart table during the reception such a unique and special touch.
Our photographers were incredible. They had this perfect balance of being invisible when needed, yet always there to capture the moments that mattered most it’s those little things that really make a difference.
Any advice for other couples?
Take a moment for yourself before the big moments just a quiet pause to breathe and take it all in.
Don’t focus too much on getting the “perfect” photos. Be present, enjoy every second, and stay connected with each other it’s easy to get pulled in different directions while talking to guests.
Don’t sweat the small stuff. If something feels stressful, delegate it and let someone else handle it.
And finally… a mimosa never hurts to calm the nerves before getting into your dress!
