Hillstone St Lucia Wedding Matthew and Madelyne
Our wedding was located at Hillstone St Lucia – nice and close to Brisbane city, however it feels like you’re taken away to a natural paradise of a golf course, trees and nature. We picked this venue as it had a natural environment, gorgeous grounds including a bubbling water feature and old buildings and incredible staff who were so helpful throughout the planning process and on the day. We also loved the cheeky cockatoos that made their way around sunset to check out what was happening.
Was there a theme to your wedding at Hillstone St Lucia
We had a very rough “garden” or “colourful” theme but on reflection the theme of the day truly was about love not only between us getting married but with all of our friends and family
Unique and favourite moments at your Hillstone St Lucia Wedding
A unique moment was having a reflection out at our guests at the start of our ceremony to take it all in. We also had a private cheese platter for just the two of us before dinner and it was a special time to just be together for the first time as married people. Another unique moment was watching someone do the worm on the dance floor. My favourite moment was the ceremony – having joy and tunnel vision seeing Mat as I walked down the aisle and bouncing up and down with excitement when we had our first kiss as a married couple.
Any advice for other couples
The wedding planning process can be a lot of work and quite stressful at times. So, we would suggest getting help from family and friends where possible to ease the load. Also, making sure you help plan and organise the wedding as a couple; even if the bride wants to plan everything, the groom can help organise and help in other ways.
On the big day itself, just make sure you enjoy yourself and take it all in. It will be the best day of your lives and it will fly by, so make the most of it by putting all the stress of the planning behind you, enjoy your time with your friends and family, and take moments as a couple to slow down.
