How they Met
Friends introduced Emma and Michael at an Annual Christmas pub crawl, as soon as they started talking it was obvious there was chemistry.
Emma: I remember being in awe of his smile and thinking to myself – this guy is gorgeous.
Michael: Emma’s deep red hair at the time.
We now go to that same pub crawl every year to celebrate our meeting.
The proposal
He proposed to me when we were out for dinner at Madame Wu’s, discussing our future. I was teasing him for taking too long and suggested we go look at rings again, unaware that he was actually planning to propose. It completely caught me off guard. As we were walking back to the car along the pier he says “I don’t think I can drive yet” I was walking slightly ahead and hear “I’ve just got to do this first” and I swing around with “What?” to see his standing there with the box open. I tackle hug him crying saying I wrecked the proposal. We then sat down, both had a mini cry and he asked me to marry him.
Michael: Bloody Emma trying to ruin an amazing night!
Planning their wedding at Hillstone St Lucia
Emma’s dress was from The Bridal Company at Helensvale; I knew I wanted lace but I didn’t know what style, I liked the fact that it was the same lace throughout and when I tried it on, I felt like a bride so I knew it was the one.
Hillstone St Lucia was where they had their ceremony and reception. The Rosewood Room- We chose this venue for multiple reasons; easy for guests both central and in one place, great staff, great food and beautiful surrounds.
Unique or funny moments at your wedding at Hillstone St Lucia
Emma – While at UQ, Adam asked us to lay on the grass, I wasn’t sure how my dress would go getting down so I dropped to my knees and did a push up….which then resulted in a few more for good measure.
Any advice for future couples?
Don’t sweat the small stuff – pick out your big rocks, your must haves and let everything else fall into place. At the end of the day you’ve married the love of your life, if things don’t go to plan ask yourself – did I get married today? If yes – your day was perfect and your next chapter has begun so enjoy it!
Michael: Enjoy and savour the day. It goes very quickly.
