Lani and Steve’ Forget Me Not Farm Wedding

Lani and Steve’s Forget Me Not Farm Wedding in Byron Bay

Steve was enjoying a few drinks with his mates at his local (Lani’s work) – The Royal Hotel one Friday arvo. He fancied what he saw, got the nod of approval from his best mate. And after a mutual friend introduced them to one another he started stalking Lani on Facebook and slid into her dms. Lani first noticed Steve’s cute cheeky smile and Steve first noticed Lani’s “good looks”.

When he proposed what were you thinking? and how did he do it?

We were in Fiji with Steve’s whole family celebrating Poppa John’s 90th. Steve organised for us to have a couples massage at another resort that sat high on a mountain with panoramic views of the island. After the massage we were taken into a room. With a beautiful flower bath with champers and chocolate dipped fruit and when I turned around he was on one knee. I was so overwhelmed that I laughed (a typical response from me) but I felt extremely happy that the time had finally come.

Where was your ceremony and reception and why did you choose there?

We had our ceremony and reception at Forget Me Not Farm in Byron Bay. I had a vision of what I wanted the reception to look like – a clear marquee covered in fairy lights. We also wanted a destination wedding and we have both always loved Byron Bay so we headed up to check out the venue and fell in love with it straight away! We really liked how versatile the venue was with its many ceremony nooks and how it was completely encompassed with greenery.

Who was your celebrant and why did you choose them for your wedding in Byron

Trent the celebrant! He’s our dear friend and he did not disappoint. Having someone who truly knows you as a couple makes it even more special. Trent gave the perfect amount of funny and sincerity.

Was there a particular feel or style you wanted for your wedding at forget Me Not Farm

Yes and I think it crossed over a few themes but we were mostly going for romantic, garden and minimalist.

Who made your dress and where was it from, what made you choose your dress?

The very talented Christie Nicole. I fell in love with one of Christie’s early designs years ago and kept following her since then. I knew I wanted to show a bit of leg and I loved how classy she made it.

Was there any unique or funny moments from your wedding at forget Me Not Farm

One of the resident cows at Forget Me Not gave birth literally 20 mins before the ceremony started and they named it Lani! We also both made each other laugh during our vows which we loved and it also made for amazing photos. Lastly, it was the one fine and sunny day amongst some torrential rain and severe flooding!

Any advice for future couples?

Wedding wise – the day can go pretty quick so if you can start it early then go for it!

Relationship wise – don’t take things too seriously, always respect one another and find ways to spend quality time together.

Anything else you would like to add about your day?

We just want to express how grateful we are for everyone who contributed to making our day as special as it was and we are beyond blown away by the quality and content of our photos and wedding video.
